About the Series

The Integrative Lecture Series began in 2004 as the Nicholson Lecture Series. From 2004-2012 the series was funded in part through the Nicholson W.D. & Laura Nell Nicholson Family Chair in Integrative Medicine, and produced roundtable discussions on integrative healthcare topics of interest to the medical community and the public.

In 2013 the series began to partner with the UTMB Health Department of Family Medicine and additional sponsors, such as the Jesse B. Health Lectureship and the Charles H. and Mary Campbell Integrative Medicine Fund, began to support these vital activities.

About the Nicholson Sponsorship

Dr. Dan Nicholson and his wife, Elaine, established the first professorship in integrative medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston—one of just a few such endowments in the United States. Established in memory of Dr. Nicholson’s father and mother, the W.D. and Laura Nell Nicholson Family Chair in Integrative Medicine supports the integration of conventional and alternative medicine in clinical practice, education and research at UTMB Health.

Dr. Victor S. Sierpina, a UTMB professor of family medicine with tenure, presently holds the Nicholson Professorship position.
